Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Lewisburg's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Lewisburg won the last time they faced Southaven and things went their way on Friday too. Lewisburg put the hurt on Southaven with a sharp 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Bierman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Carson Sharp looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had over his last six matches.

Back at the plate, Lewisburg got a massive performance out of Caden Nelson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Nelson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Garrett Latham, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Lewisburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. Southaven dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Lewisburg will welcome Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southaven, they have already played their next game, a 10-8 victory against White Station on the 22nd.
