Softball Recap: Anthem Prep Eagles vs. Mingus Marauders
Anthem Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell just short of the Mingus Marauders by a score of 9-8.
Bailey McCabe was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). McCabe has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. McCabe was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
McCabe wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abby Bashaar, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
On Mingus' side, Alice Kinsey spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Maddison Lusebrink and Julia Meyer did most of the damage at the plate: Lusebrink scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Meyer scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Anthem Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Mingus, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
