Football Game Preview: Austin Prep vs. Cathedral/Cristo Rey

On Friday Cathedral/Cristo Rey take on Austin Prep at West Roxbury at 7:00 PM. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.

Things haven't been easy for Cathedral/Cristo Rey, and their contest last Saturday only extended their streak of losses to five. They took a serious blow against Matignon/St. Joseph Prep last Saturday, falling 0-35.

Meanwhile, after flying high against Lowell Catholic two weeks ago, Austin Prep came back down to earth. Austin Prep suffered a grim 6-36 defeat to Pope John XXIII. The state rankings had actually given Austin Prep a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.

With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither squad could put together much of an offensive attack, so expect every point to count.
