Basketball Game Preview: Ramsey Rams vs. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm

The Ramsey Rams will take on the Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ramsey, who comes in off a win.

Ramsey took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Martinsville by a score of 42-29. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Bluestreaks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ramsey got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelsey Hayes out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 boards. Hayes has been hot, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jenni Mezo, who posted eight points and five steals.

Ramsey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Sangamon Valley/Tri-City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Nokomis 74-32. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 636th, while the Redskins are ranked 159th).

Ramsey's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Sangamon Valley/Tri-City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-20.
