            Baseball Recap: Apex Cougars vs. Holly Springs Golden Hawks        
        
		
        
        
            Apex extended their losing streak  to four  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 11-11 in the process. They lost  10-0 to the Holly Springs Golden Hawks. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in May of 2024.
 Apex saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  JADEN GAYLES, who  went 1-for-2 with one  stolen base.
As for Holly Springs, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-8. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.
On Holly Springs' side,  the result came thanks to  Jake Cackovic's shutout, as he gave up just a  hit and racked up 11 Ks. Cackovic has been consistent: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Anthony Zezza and  Hodge Williams did most of the damage at the plate:  Zezza  got on base  in all five of his plate appearances with four  runs, while  Williams  went 3-for-4 with three  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. Those  four  runs gave  Zezza a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Tyler Dowler, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI and one  run.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Apex beat Holly Springs by a score of  2-1 on Friday.
