With a playoff game on the line, Basalt rose to the challenge on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Sterling Tigers as they made off with a 34-14 victory. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Basalt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Tarallo, who rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave Tarallo a new career-high in rushing yards. Will Daniel was another major influence, as he rushed for 120 yards and ran in a TD.

Basalt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 376 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.

Basalt didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tarallo, Dylan Ferreira, and Taylor Hays picked up one apiece. Tarallo's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 100 rushing yards.

Although Sterling took the loss, they still got scores from Kaden Maikowski and Braydon Evans.

Basalt's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Sterling, they moved to 9-2 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Basalt will look to defend their home field on Saturday against The Classical Academy at 1:00 p.m. One thing working in Basalt's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six games. Sterling does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
