Baseball Game Preview: Laurens Academy Crusaders vs. Oakbrook Prep Knights

The Laurens Academy Crusaders will venture away from home to take on the Oakbrook Prep Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Laurens Academy came up short against King Academy and fell 12-8.

Meanwhile, Oakbrook Prep put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Westgate Christian as Oakbrook Prep made off with a 23-2 victory. Considering the Knights have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Horton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Ben Potter was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Davis Haas, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Oakbrook Prep pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Laurens Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Laurens Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Oakbrook Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 13-11. Will Laurens Academy repeat their success, or does Oakbrook Prep has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
