Basketball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Union County

On Friday, the Union County Yellowjackets strolled past the Mountain View Prep Stars with points to spare, taking the game 35-20.

Mountain View Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Avery Caldwell, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Caldwell has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Avery Richards was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

Union County pushed their record up to 6-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Mountain View Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will venture away from home to challenge Broome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County is facing Broome at the right time seeing as Broome is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mountain View Prep, they will head out to take on Chapman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
