Recap: Springwood Wildcats vs. Valiant Cross Academy Warriors
The Springwood Wildcats waltzed into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Valiant Cross Academy with points to spare, taking the game 76-62. Given Springwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Valiant Cross Academy is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Springwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Crawford Fuller, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Daniel Westbrook, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Springwood pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.0 points per game. As for Valiant Cross Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springwood will face off against Chambers Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valiant Cross Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glenwood at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th.
