The Willcox Cowboys will be taking part in a tournament against the Heritage Academy Heroes at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Willcox is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Willcox's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Morenci as Willcox made off with a 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cowboys.

Karlie St Clair was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Nataly Thompson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Willcox was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Heritage Academy came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Broncos by a score of 9-5.

Gloriann Blanco was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Asanovich, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

The victory got Willcox back to even at 5-5. As for Heritage Academy, their record now sits at 9-1.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willcox hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Heritage Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .496. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Willcox couldn't quite get it done against Heritage Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 10-7. Can Willcox avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
