Recap: Crossroads Christian Colts vs. Lawrence Academy Warriors
The Crossroads Christian Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Lawrence Academy on Tuesday as Crossroads Christian made off with a 74-52 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Crossroads Christian.
Ben Gladieux continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ely Phillips, who scored 20 points.
When it comes to explaining why Lawrence Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mari Larry. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Conner Ferebee was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Even though they lost, Lawrence Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crossroads Christian only pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
Crossroads Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Lawrence Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Crossroads Christian will be staying on the road on December 27th to face off against Grovetown at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Grovetown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 201st in Georgia, while Crossroads Christian is ranked 89th in North Carolina). Lawrence Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northeast Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hopefully Northeast Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Thursday.
