Softball Recap: Thompson Falls Short Against Ranked Fargo North

Thompson faced Fargo North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tommies fell 6-1 to the Spartans. The match marked the Tommies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Thompson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Olson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Fiona Hendrickson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Thompson's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Fargo North, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Thompson will challenge Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.91 runs per game on average), something the Tommies will no doubt try to take advantage of. Fargo North has already played their next contest (against Mandan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
