Baseball Game Preview: PikeView Panthers vs. Asheville Cougars

The PikeView Panthers will take on the Asheville Cougars in a tournament on Wednesday. PikeView is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

PikeView's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Shady Spring hitters got past them. The Panthers lost 18-10 to the Tigers on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly eight runs.

Eli Naylor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Landon Bolen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Asheville suffered their closest loss since March 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of North Myrtle Beach by a score of 3-1. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Asheville's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for PikeView, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
