Preview: York Cougars vs. Lancaster Bruins
York is 0-10 against Lancaster since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The York Cougars will stay at home for another game and welcome the Lancaster Bruins at 7:45 p.m. on January 19th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
York suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 71-50 defeat at the hands of Northwestern. York has not had much luck with Northwestern recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
York's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brenden Lacroix, who scored 14 points, and Jaxon Wilkins-Graham who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilkins-Graham has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Lancaster faced Catawba Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lancaster was beaten by Catawba Ridge 78-47 on Tuesday. Lancaster has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
York has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Lancaster, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
York took a serious blow against Lancaster when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 87-51. Can York avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
