Basketball Game Preview: Bayfield Wolverines vs. Pagosa Springs Pirates

Bayfield hasn't had much luck against Pagosa Springs recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bayfield Wolverines will take on the Pagosa Springs Pirates at 5:30 p.m. Bayfield will be strutting in after a win while Pagosa Springs will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bayfield beat Montezuma-Cortez 49-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs suffered their closest loss since January 10th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Alamosa by a score of 47-44. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bayfield will need to focus on slowing down Seth Zeigler, one of several Pagosa Springs players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Jaxten Scheil, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Pagosa Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Bayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Bayfield didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pagosa Springs in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 49-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bayfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
