Softball Recap: Hillsdale Extends Winning Streak to Four

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillsdale). They blew past the Chippewa Chipps 14-2 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Falcons sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Keira Filius made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Those runs were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kennedy Fickes was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kiki McFadden, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Hillsdale's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Chippewa, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Chippewa will host Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hillsdale will be paying especially close attention to the Chipps' contest: after the Chipps faces off against the Tigers, they'll take on Hillsdale again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
