Basketball Recap: Memorial Finds Playoff Glory Versus Columbiana

Memorial had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed past the Columbiana Clippers to the tune of 83-48 on Tuesday. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Josue Rodriguez was his usual excellent self, on his way to 28 points. The game was his third in a row with at least 28 points. Teyon Harris Jr. was another key player, to rack up 15 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Several Clippers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayden Clancy, who posted nine points and seven boards. Those nine points gave Clancy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Davanzo, who scored five points and eight rebounds.

Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.2 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Columbiana and nudges their season record down to 19-4.

Looking ahead, Memorial will challenge LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. LaBrae will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Memorial surely won't give up without a fight. Columbiana does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
