Riverbend barely beat Stafford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears blew past the Indians 15-3 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Chloe King made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Riverbend got a massive performance out of Isa Barber, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Barber a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Livesay, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Riverbend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stafford only posted an OBP of .292.
Riverbend's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Stafford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverbend will head out to face off against Brooke Point at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Stafford, they will venture away from home to take on Massaponax at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
