Basketball Recap: Elba Takes a Loss

Elba was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-17 defeat at the hands of the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans. The Bluejays lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in November of 2018, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-11 score last time.

Landon Schulte went supernova for Ansley/Litchfield, shooting 65% from the field en route to 33 points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Schulte a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (63%). Luke Bailey was another key player, going 7-for-10 to rack up 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Elba's loss dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Ansley/Litchfield, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10.

Elba does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-51 victory against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on the 27th.
