Basketball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Drops Season-High Score on Cristo Rey Research Triangle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Excelsior Classical Academy). They really took it to the Cristo Rey Research Triangle Bulls for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-29 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-18.

Excelsior Classical Academy was led to victory by Hunter Goss and Shawn Francis-Service. Goss dropped a double-double on 21 points and 21 rebounds, while Francis-Service went 12 for 23 on his way to 28 points and six boards. Francis-Service's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Mombrun, who posted eight points and three steals.

Excelsior Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Excelsior Classical Academy moved to 8-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Cristo Rey Research Triangle, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Excelsior Classical Academy has already played their next game, a 54-48 defeat against Roxboro Community on the 17th. As for Cristo Rey Research Triangle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-20 loss against Neuse Christian Academy on the 17th.
