Basketball Recap: Strong Takes a Loss

Strong lost against Lafayette County back in November of 2016 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Strong Bulldogs took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lafayette County Cougars.

Lafayette County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Palermo led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 21 rebounds. What's more, Palermo also racked up five blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaylon Calton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards.

Strong dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Lafayette County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lafayette County beat Strong by a score of 65-51 on Thursday.
