Baseball Recap: Madison Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

16 must be Madison's lucky number: they beat Jonesville with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Trojans beat the Comets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-5. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Brian Dopp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dopp was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-5. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Norman Frederick, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Mohr, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Madison pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season. As for Jonesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Madison will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Onsted at 4:00 p.m. As for Jonesville, they will head out to take on Michigan Center at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
