Softball Recap: West Springfield Comes Up Short

West Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the Smith Vo-Tech Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Terriers have suffered since April 20th.

West Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Smith Vo-Tech, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Coming up, West Springfield will challenge Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smith Vo-Tech, they will face off against Norfolk County Agricultural at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.15 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
