Softball Recap: Homewood Finds Home Field Redemption Against Mountain Brook

There's no place like home for Homewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Mountain Brook Spartans 5-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 last Tuesday.

Homewood's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Anne Hope Howell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Lucy Robinett was another, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Homewood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Homewood pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mountain Brook, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Homewood will be taking part in a tournament against Lincoln at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last five games Lincoln has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Mountain Brook, they will face off against Leeds at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
