Baseball Game Preview: Northside Methodist Academy Knights vs. New Brockton Gamecocks

The Northside Methodist Academy Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the New Brockton Gamecocks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northside Methodist Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Northside Methodist Academy's last matchup with Headland could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Saturday. Northside Methodist Academy came up short against Headland, falling 17-0.

Meanwhile, New Brockton gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Luverne with a sharp 11-3 victory. Considering the Gamecocks have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Griffin Wood looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryant Crumpler, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Judd Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for New Brockton and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Northside Methodist Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
