Recap: Chowchilla Tribe vs. Morro Bay Pirates
With a playoff game on the line, the Chowchilla Tribe rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They secured a 57-51 W over the Pirates. The victory was just what Chowchilla needed coming off of a 69-49 loss in their prior game.
Chowchilla got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zayne Smith out in front who scored 21 points along with two steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaled Escheik, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Chowchilla has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. As for Morro Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 14-14.
Chowchilla will head out on the road to take on Mendota at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mendota will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Chowchilla surely won't give up without a fight. Morro Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
