Soccer Game Preview: Sergeant Bluff-Luton vs. Denison-Schleswig

The Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors will challenge the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs on Tuesday.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against West Sioux on Friday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Sergeant Bluff-Luton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 91st, while West Sioux are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, Denison-Schleswig came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Spartans a 10-0 shutout. Considering Denison-Schleswig have won ten games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Denison-Schleswig pushed their record up to 11-4-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those five contests. As for Sergeant Bluff-Luton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6-3 record this season.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton beat Denison-Schleswig by a goal in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 1-0. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
