Basketball Recap: North Putnam Comes Up Short

North Putnam was the 61-37 winner over Greencastle when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The North Putnam Cougars took a 58-39 bruising from the Greencastle Tiger Cubs on Friday. The Cougars were down 51-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Sam Gooch continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Greencastle, going 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Nathan Sutherlin was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.

North Putnam's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Greencastle, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

North Putnam will face off against Cloverdale at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greencastle, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Edgewood at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
