Preview: Elite Academy Eagles vs. ABF Academy Cowboys
The Elite Academy Eagles on the road again on Wednesday and play against the ABF Academy Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Mater Academy Charter scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, Elite Academy still came out on top. Elite Academy took their contest against Mater Academy Charter 70-62. Given Elite Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Mater Academy Charter is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elite Academy relied on the efforts of Ladainian Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds, and Kyler Theophile, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Theophile has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Morgan, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, even though Central Pointe Christian Academy scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, ABF Academy still came out on top. ABF Academy blew past Central Pointe Christian Academy 85-62. The win made it back-to-back wins for ABF Academy.
Elite Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for ABF Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Elite Academy barely slipped by ABF Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 61-60. Will Elite Academy repeat their success, or does ABF Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
