Baseball Game Preview: Solon Comets vs. Twinsburg Tigers

For the second straight game, Solon will face off against Twinsburg. The Comets will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Solon has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Solon is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Twinsburg on Wednesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 12-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Comets in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost five in a row.

For Twinsburg's part, Nathan Kimmel tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The Tigers are 2-1 when Kimmel allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Twinsburg got a massive performance out of AJ Sorace, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave Sorace a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Kramer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Twinsburg hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in five consecutive matchups.

Twinsburg's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Solon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11-1.
