Recap: Windber Ramblers vs. River Valley Panthers
The Windber Ramblers had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past River Valley 48-45. That's another feather in the cap for Windber, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Windber to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Brady, who scored 16 points. Logan Sorenko was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dom Speal. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Whitfield, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Windber's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Windber will square off against Forest Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for River Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Mt. Pleasant at 4:30 p.m.
