Softball Recap: Mount Mercy Academy Magic vs. Mount St. Mary Academy Thunder

Mount Mercy Academy extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-8 in the process. They fell 9-5 to the Mount St. Mary Academy Thunder. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Tuesday.

Natalie McOwen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Kayla Davis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Mount St. Mary Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games.

On Mount St. Mary Academy's side, Taylor Zajac was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
