Basketball Game Preview: Mayville Cardinals vs. North Fond du Lac Orioles

The Mayville Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the North Fond du Lac Orioles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mayville has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while North Fond du Lac will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Mayville was beaten by Laconia 79-12. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while the Spartans are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, North Fond du Lac didn't have too much trouble with West Bend East on Thursday as they won 51-35.

North Fond du Lac's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Mayville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.

Mayville was taken down by North Fond du Lac 69-36 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Mayville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
