Basketball Game Preview: West Bladen Knights vs. Red Springs Red Devils

The West Bladen Knights just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Red Springs Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

West Bladen is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against East Bladen on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. West Bladen was dealt a 68-21 defeat at the hands of East Bladen. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-11.

Micheala Hester put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted six points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Red Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Midway by a score of 37-25 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

West Bladen better keep an eye on Nakira Hunt. She was instrumental in Red Springs' win, putting up 20 points. Hunt is becoming a predictor of Red Springs' success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is undefeated (and 4-15 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Monica Washington, who put up nine points.

West Bladen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Red Springs, their win bumped their record up to 7-15.

West Bladen ended up a good deal behind Red Springs in their previous meeting back in January, losing 55-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Washington, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds. Now that West Bladen knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
