Soccer Recap: Five Straight Road Victories for El Rancho

El Rancho waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They beat the Montebello Oilers by a goal, winning 1-0. The Dons wouldn't have won without Nigel Mendoza, who scored the game-winner.

El Rancho was without their leading scorer, Ruben Viramontes, in Tuesday's game. With Viramontes sidelined, Jesus Arceo got his first action of the season.

El Rancho's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five contests. As for Montebello, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-2 record this season.

El Rancho wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Nogales on the 19th. Montebello will take on Loyola in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Montebello's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
