Basketball Game Preview: Memorial Red Devils vs. McDonald Blue Devils

Memorial hasn't had much luck against McDonald recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Devils will host the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m.

Memorial is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Mineral Ridge on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Red Devils were beaten by the Rams 60-10. The matchup marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Le'Asia Miller was Memorial's leading scorer, having posted four points. Amira Kamal held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, McDonald earned a 49-40 victory over Jackson-Milton on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

McDonald's win came from a few key players that Memorial will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Juliana Krumpak, who posted 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cierra Shiley, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 boards.

McDonald was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They are 8-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

McDonald's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Memorial has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 22 rebounds per game. However, it's not like McDonald struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
