Baseball Game Preview: Howards Grove Tigers vs. Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters

Howards Grove has gone a perfect 4-0 against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will host the Resorters at 7:30 p.m. Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Howards Grove, who comes in off a win.

Howards Grove's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Sheboygan Area Lutheran by a score of 4-0. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won eight in a row.

Logan Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Howards Grove is 3-1 when Miller posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, Mason Scharl was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Matt Koenig was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Howards Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah fell victim to Mishicot and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The Resorters haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Howards Grove, their win bumped their record up to 6-18.

Everything went Howards Grove's way against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Howards Grove made off with a 16-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Resorters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
