Basketball Recap: Heritage Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Heritage won the last time they faced Wake Forest and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Heritage Huskies came out on top against the Wake Forest Cougars by a score of 51-41. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Cougars are ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wake Forest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Juel Tillery, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and three steals. That's the most points Tillery has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Scott Jones, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Wake Forest, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will host Millbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Millbrook's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches. As for Wake Forest, they will welcome Knightdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
