Baseball Recap: Purvis Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lawrence County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Purvis). They blew past the Lawrence County Cougars 21-6 on Monday. The Tornadoes haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Kade Lawler looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Walker, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jacob Parker was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Purvis lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in five consecutive games.

Purvis' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purvis will face off against Petal at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lawrence County, they will square off against Raymond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.44 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
