Softball Recap: Cypress Lake Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lely

There's no place like home for Cypress Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on the Lely Trojans with a sharp 11-2 win on Monday. Considering the Panthers have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Audrina Westland was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Westland was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Cypress Lake got a big performance out of Maisy Vogel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Vogel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mackenzy Stouffer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Cypress Lake is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Lely, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cypress Lake will head out to challenge Fort Myers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Green Wave's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lely, they will be playing at home against Gateway Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Griffins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.17 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
