Baseball Game Preview: Blackford Bruins vs. South Adams Starfires

The Blackford Bruins will take on the South Adams Starfires at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Blackford and seven for South Adams.

Friday just wasn't the day for Blackford's offense. They came up short against Shenandoah on Friday, falling 10-0.

Peru hit South Adams with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Starfires lost 10-2 to the Tigers.

South Adams saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaden Baumer, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

South Adams' defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Blackford, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Blackford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Adams struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Blackford couldn't quite finish off South Adams in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 and fell 3-1. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
