Recap: Phalen Leadership Academy Falcon vs. Bowman Academy Eagles

It was a good run, but the Phalen Leadership Academy Falcon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to Bowman Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (69), Phalen Leadership Academy still had to take the loss.

Phalen Leadership Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demarcus Suggs, who scored 20 points. Suggs continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zinan Taylor, who scored 13 points.

Phalen Leadership Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bowman Academy pulled down 29.

Bowman Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nickolas Black led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Black's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Emmanuel Foley was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.

Phalen Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Bowman Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Phalen Leadership Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Indianapolis Northwest W at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Indianapolis Northwest W is ranked 235th, while Phalen Leadership Academy is ranked 211th). As for Bowman Academy, they will be playing at home against Lake Station Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lake Station Edison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
