The Ansonia Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Parkway Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Parkway took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ansonia, who comes in off a win.
Ansonia is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mississinawa Valley with a sharp 13-5 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Cainan Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Darby Gilland was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Asher Shives, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ansonia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Parkway duked it out with Minster on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Wildcats, falling 20-6. The Panthers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Parkway saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacoby Triplett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Triplett has launched this season. Kolt Harner was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Ansonia's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Parkway, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
