Basketball Recap: Tytiana Dowden Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cape Fear

After losing to Cape Fear the last time they met, Westover decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Westover Wolverines managed a 52-47 win over the Cape Fear Colts on Friday.

Westover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tytiana Dowden led the charge by putting up 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alena Dilione, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.

Westover's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Cape Fear, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.

Westover and Cape Fear should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Westover (ranked 98th) will meet Hillside (ranked 434th) at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cape Fear (ranked 186th) will meet Purnell Swett (ranked 408th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
