Recap: Sparta Spartans vs. Arcadia Raiders

The Sparta Spartans pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arcadia. Sparta was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Arcadia apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Sparta lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elexa Jones, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Jones continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Tripp, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Sparta's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-12. As for Arcadia, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta will take on La Crosse Central at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Arcadia, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Westby at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Westby is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
