Football Game Preview: Panhandle Panthers vs. West Texas Comanches

The Panhandle Panthers will head out to square off against the West Texas Comanches at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Panhandle comes in on three and West Texas on six.

Panhandle's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sanford-Fritch 69-0. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Eagles are ranked 1085th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led West Texas over Highland Park in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Comanches blew the Hornets out of the water with a 58-6 final score. With the Comanches ahead 38-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

West Texas' win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Panhandle, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Panhandle against West Texas in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
