Baseball Recap: Old Forge's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Old Forge dropped their record down to 9-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mid Valley Spartans by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since April 4th.

TJ DiMattia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo DiMauro, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Mid Valley, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Old Forge: they've now won four in a row.

On Mid Valley's side, the team relied heavily on Nick Mills, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Anthony Balashaitis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Old Forge is set to square off against their familiar foe Western Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Mid Valley will take on rival Dunmore at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 3.4, the Bucks 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
