Softball Recap: Sewickley Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Sewickley Academy dropped their record down to 10-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They came up short against the Union Area Scotties, falling 9-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last seven times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for Union Area, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Union Area's part, Sewickley Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Mia Preuhs, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (she gave up three walks). Preuhs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olivia Williams was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Benedict, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

Looking ahead, Sewickley Academy will venture away from home to square off against Quaker Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Union Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
