Basketball Game Preview: Orme Warriors vs. Verde Valley Coyotes

The Orme Warriors will take on the Verde Valley Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Orme took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 25-17 victory over American Heritage Academy. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Verde Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against BASIS - Prescott, falling 40-9. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Coyote are ranked 114th).

Emma Taylor was Verde Valley's leading scorer, having posted three points.

Orme's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for Verde Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Orme took their win against Verde Valley in their previous matchup on January 10th by a conclusive 44-18. In that match, Orme amassed a halftime lead of 27-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
