Shaker Heights is 0-6 against Medina since April of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Red Raiders will face off against the Battling Bees at 5:00 p.m. Medina took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Shaker Heights, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Shaker Heights earned a 5-2 win over Strongsville.
Scout Harvey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emerson Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Medina didn't have quite enough to beat Brunswick on Monday and fell 5-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Battling Bees in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost eight in a row.
Medina saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Flemming, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kelsey Swinko was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Shaker Heights is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Medina, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shaker Heights hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Medina struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
